The Hong Kong Biotechnology Education Resource Centre (HKBERC) was established as a non-profit organization in April 2004 by a group of volunteers representing the academic, community and the biotechnology industry sections. It has a mission to develop and enhance biotechnology education in secondary and primary schools in Hong Kong.
It is imperative to attract and promote interest in biotechnology among students if Hong Kong is striving to build a biotechnology industry and a knowledge-based economy. There is no doubt that the ability to attract the best students and build up highly qualified human resources is one of the keys to future success in biotechnology.
Biotechnology is an experimental science that is best demonstrated with practical and hands-on experiments for the students. HKBERC is devoted and committed to establish a well coordinated Biotechnology Education Program for teachers and students in order to address and meet with the needs for biotechnology education in Hong Kong.
